Up, Up the Mountain
It's hard to believe it's Friday already! Today we decided to take a day trip to Jacmel, which is a port town on the South coast of Haiti. It's only 61 KM away from Grand Goave but it takes at least a couple of hours to get there. It's basically like being on a roller coaster. Not a relaxing drive by any means!! However - it's intensely beautiful. As beautiful as it is though, it's impossible not to see how desperate the conditions are for the people who live here. The burden of life in Haiti is a heavy one.
A few days ago we had a church service and here are some things that have stuck with me:
~ Each person God has called is responsible for something. Take God's call on your life seriously.
~ The work you do for God determines the result for Him.
~ Whatever the call of God is in your life requires WORK.
It just made me think. Have I really opened my heart to receive the call of God? Am I truly committed to working for it and giving it value? This is my eighth trip to Haiti Arise and I have changed a lot. I am so grateful for that! I have more self-evaluation to do though!
One of the highlights of coming here is the children. It will always be the children! They are beautiful and fun and they make me laugh. Seeing their joy just brightens my day. It's hard to believe that of the over 600 kids that come to school through Haiti Arise only a third of them have sponsors. If you are sponsoring a child here or somewhere else then that's fantastic. If you aren't - consider it!! It's so rewarding and it will change the life of a child.
Well that's probably it for today!! I hope everyone who is reading this is well. Bondye beni ou to you all!! And thank-you for your prayers!
