Founders

Marc & Lisa Honorat

Marc and Lisa Honorat founded Haiti ARISE Ministries in 2003 out of a shared vision to see Haiti transformed through education, leadership, and the hope of the Gospel.

Marc, a native of Haiti, grew up in poverty and hardship, experiencing firsthand the struggles of his people. Through the care of others, he was able to receive an education and pursue Bible college, shaping his passion to return and help guide his nation toward change.

Lisa, originally from Washington state, felt called from a young age to be a missionary. Her first opportunity took her to Jamaica, where she met Marc. Despite years of long-distance ministry and study, they pursued their calling together, married in 2000, and prepared to serve full time in Haiti.

With their own savings, and a year of collecting pop bottles, they purchased the first piece of land in Haiti and began the ministry that has since grown into Technical colleges, schools, children’s homes, medical services, and community development projects. Today, Marc and Lisa serve as Chief Executive Officer and International Directors, traveling between Haiti, Canada, and the U.S. to oversee operations, share the vision, and build strong partnerships.

Together, they are raising their six children—five biological and one adopted—within the ministry, passing on their heart to serve and impact lives in Haiti.

The Future

We continue to move forward with the vision God has given us.

Our future endeavors include:

Community business development including a bakery
Construction of 2 more quadplexes for the children's village
Development of beachfront property for hotel & hospitality services training
Construction of permanent church building
Construction of dormitories for technical school students
Expand affiliations with churches & ministries in other areas
Expand to other regions of Haiti with the opening of new campuses

Our Global Leadership Team

Haiti ARISE Ministries operates through a united international leadership structure, made up of three distinct boards in Canada, the United States, and Haiti. These boards work collaboratively as one cohesive team—alongside dedicated staff and volunteers—to provide strategic direction, marketing support, and financial oversight.

Together, the international advisory boards help recruit skilled tradespeople, instructors, and volunteers; coordinate material donations and logistics; support area representatives; and maintain communication with our global network of supporters. The international directors work hand in hand with both local leaders and international partners to carry out the mission and vision of Haiti ARISE, while overseeing our committed Haitian staff who manage day-to-day operations on the ground.
