Haiti ARISE Ministries is responding to the 2010 earthquake disaster by:

  • Providing immediate disaster relief in the following areas:
    • Water- We currently have two clean water wells which provide potable water to the community. Samaritan's Purse has partnered with us in water distribution.

    • Temporary Shelter- We are providing our three campuses for temporary tent shelters erected by Samaritan's Purse for displaced Grand-Goave residents.
    • Emergency Medical Care- Our Haitian nurse staff has been providing simple medical aid. Additional North American medical teams are being scheduled to set up clinics as soon as possible.
    • Security Wall- The campus perimeter wall collapsed in the quake. This will be rebuilt promptly to ensure security for volunteer teams and storage areas for distribution.
    • Counseling Services- We will provide trauma counseling to help those who have lost loved ones and those emotionally impacted by the quake
  • Conducted an assessment of the following areas:
    • Water quality and safety
    • Sanitation
    • Building safety

    • Medical & Rehab Clinic- Plans for a medical facility has received highest priority to mitigate the pervasive physical trauma caused by the earthquake.  Specified, continuing care will be required for amputees.
  • Rebuild the following:
    • Education Program- Young adults and children need to assume a sense of normalcy again. The majority of local schools were destroyed. Subsequently, plans to build a primary and secondary school have received higher priority. Technical college classes will resume emphasizing skill trades that will be vital in the rebuilding process.
    • Church Program-  The spiritual needs of the people has increased with this crisis. Programs to disciple new believers will be crucial, as well as expanding our meeting place to provide a sanctuary for worshipers.
    • Community Transformation Program- (rice, water, clothing distribution, hygiene classes etc.) - The scope of our community transformation program has enlarged to respond to the overwhelming needs of the devastated communities of Grand-Goave. We will engage in rebuilding homes, drilling clean water wells, food distributions, completing the goat farm project and helping students return to school.
